This workshop will explore self-care practices for early care professionals and the families with whom they work.

In times of stress and crisis, we all need to take care of ourselves. Yet many people in caring professions and family members neglect their own mental health as they prioritize their care for others. You will be introduced to a variety of self-care strategies, and learn why we all need self-care, particularly during extremely stressful times. You will learn how to make the oftentimes difficult shift from nurturing others to nurturing yourself first.

Audience:

Professionals who work with families of young children, including early care educators, family child care providers, mental health consultants, home visitors, pediatricians, early interventionists, and more.

This course is part of the Supporting Everyone’s Mental Health workshop series. Many families and providers who serve them are under enormous stress. As professionals working with young children and their families, we need to care for our own mental health while we tend to the mental health of the families with whom we work. This series offers family-facing providers of all professions strategies they can use in their work and in their personal lives that honor everyone’s experiences, build resilience, and nurture self-care.
